Searching for a chemists or pharmacy? Late night chemist provides details of chemist shops and their opening hours.
Each area of the country has a rota of duty chemist shops, who open their pharmacy out of normal opening hours to allow prescription medicine (drugs prescribed by a doctor) to be dispensed and over the counter (OTC) remedies such as cold and flu medicines to be purchased.
In an emergency a pharmacist can, at their discretion, provide up to a five day supply of your regular prescription drugs providing certain conditions are met. It is advisable to call ahead to a pharmacy if you are requesting an emergency supply.
Emergency contraception (the morning after pill) no longer requres a prescription in the UK. If you think you may need the morning after pill, do not delay, go to a chemist and ask to talk to the pharmacist.
